All i knew about Durango before my stay there, was the Bob Dylan song "Romance in Durango". That was until i met Paulina, the manager. She spoke a lot about the history of Durango. She speaks english and that made things a little bit easier for me. I got recommandations for restaurants and for things to see in Durango. Thanks to Paulina and her team.

My family and I (wife, teenage daughter, and chihuahua) stayed at Casona Los Pavorreales for three nights in July. The hotel had only been open for a few weeks. What a blessing to find this place! As mentioned in other reviews, the family that runs the hotel is incredible, the very definition of hospitality. The hotel occupies a converted 200 year old mansion. The building has been lovingly restored and blends modern and historic design elements. The rooms are small but comfortable, with high ceilings, nice beds, elegant decorations, fast wifi, and premium streaming channels. The location is great for being able to explore the centro area of Durango, which is an immensely walkable city with a series of connecting pedestrian plazas. The hotel is close to the action but just the right distance to not be too busy or noisy, the thick walls of the building also helping to keep it quiet inside. I really liked the layout of the hotel as the rooms surround a central courtyard where breakfast is served each morning.... the cafe de olla is a must! In the courtyard is one of the entrances to the network of historic tunnels that in the past connected the historic buildings of old Durango. Thank you to the innkeeper's of Casona Los Pavorreales for making my family feel welcome, nurtured and safe. Paulina- thank you for all the great recommendations of things to do and places to eat, And special thanks for all of your help with figuring out parking during our stay. Edgar- thank you for keeping me calm on our first night when I thought I had lost my passport and for the great music playlists each day. Senora Paulina- we would come back to Durango for your cooking alone, thank you for going off menu to make us breakfast burritos I wish you all the best of success. Fellow travelers- this place is a jewel, book it now before the word gets out, you will not find a better value.

Dad and I stayed here 2 nights and would not change anything. Manager Paulina and her staff are thoughtful and generous, helping two travelers with limited Spanish to book bus tickets. The rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful decor. We were obsessed with the doors and locks. Breakfast was also amazing. Location is quiet, but just a 4 minute walk to all the action.

I am absolutely thrilled to share that my experience at this hotel was truly wonderful! The historical charm of the 1800s building created a unique atmosphere that allowed me to immerse myself in the past while enjoying modern comforts. The married couple who manages the hotel are, without a doubt, the best hosts I have ever encountered. Their exceptional hospitality made me feel like a VIP, and their dedication to ensuring my every need was met exceeded my expectations. They were incredibly helpful in providing recommendations for dining and activities in this beautiful city, enhancing my overall experience. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Durango, I will definitely choose to book my stay at this hotel again.

I’ll find it difficult NOT to come back here! From the moment I walked in I was treated so well. Paulina greeted me and helped accommodate me since I had arrived earlier than check in and even switched me to a larger room when I informed that my mom had decided to stay with me. The cafe de olla is delicious and so is their food! The room had so much charm with antique details like an adobe wall that had been saved from the original building during restoration. The location of the hotel is also fantastic seeing as everything is within walking distance or a quick taxi ride! If you’re going to Durango I would recommend Hotel Boutique Casona Los Pavorreales over ANY hotel in the area. Thank you to Paulina for the hospitality and all the workers who were so accommodating and sweet!

12/10 would recommend; lovely people, beautiful space and a great location. Very grateful they allowed and helped me to park my bike inside the courtyard! Truly they went above and beyond. I only wish I had more time, but hope to come back someday soon.
